The college has two units of N.S.S. In the academic session one 10 day camp is organized and then 5 one day camps are conducted. This is a compulsory activity of the B.Ed. students in the college.
Joint Signature against Terrorism & to Promote Peace
Peace Club of the college in collaboration with Yuvsatta started in the city a Signature Campaign against terrorism and war posturing and to promote cooperation and peace between the two neighboring countries of India & Pakistan.
Giving information about the campaign Mr. Parmod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta informed that from 9th January 2009 to 8th February 2009, the Joint Signature Campaign is launched in over 25 cities of India and over 20 cities of Pakistan. The Signature Campaign by peace lovers will be carried out in both the countries for one month till 8th February 2009 and the signatures collected will be submitted to the Prime Minister of India and the President of Pakistan with copies to important political functionaries and media houses of both countries.
Addressing the students Dr. Jyoti Khanna, Principal of the College said that the objective of this Campaign is to facilitate assertion by the people of both the countries in favour of resolving the present crises through dialogue, cooperation and appropriate actions by both the governments to address terrorism and all other outstanding issues. The collective will of the people could certainly compel the establishments to adopt peaceful and appropriate processes to address all the issues and bring back normalcy.
Around 300 signatures were collected in the college and organizers of the campaign plan to collect around 10,000 more in the city. Prominent amongst those who signed today includes Madhvi Kataria, PCS, Chief Manager, MARKFED, Prof. Manjit Singh, Director, Ambedkar Centre, Panjab University, Dr. Satinder Dhillon, Principal, Divya Shiksha Gurukul College of Education, Dr. Jyoti Khanna, Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education, Mrs. Pooja Sharma, Member, Chandigarh Social Welfare Board & Mr. Parmod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta.
In her address Madhvi Kataria, the chief guest on the ocassion appealed to people and media of both India and Pakistan to play a constructive role in this hour of crisis to propagate and strengthen positive attitudes for the resolution of all the outstanding problems and discourage escalation of conflict and adventurism that could jeopardize peace and prosperity of both the countries.
