3-Day Satya-Bodh Dharam Utsav, Day 3

‘Social and Ethical Awareness through Self Introspection’

The 3 day Dev Samaj Utsav on moral, ethical and social awareness ended today on a note of self - reflection. The event was attended by delegates from different parts of India – Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Moga, Ferozpur and the Tricity. The speakers, Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj, Dr. Madhu Parashar, Member, Dev Samaj Managing Council, and Dr. Agnese Dhillon, Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education, Chandigarh, highlighted the need for moral introspection and awareness regarding one’s social, moral and ethical behavior. In the light of the present social scenario, the 3 day event raised some very pertinent concerns about the loss of social and moral values.

On the final day of the event, Dr(Mrs) Agnese Dhillon spoke on the, ”Self Introspection”.She emphasized that it leads to a greater awareness of our susceptibility to the immoral and unethical behavior around us in today’s materialistic world.  In this environment there is greater need to nurture social, ethical and moral values. Dr. Dhillon gave numerous examples of benevolent social workers like Bhagat Puran Singh and Dr. Bernard who completely dedicated themselves to the welfare of others. She said that self-introspection and self-awareness alone can inspire us towards a life of moral and ethical values.

In the afternoon session the delegates reflected on the changes brought about by these 3 days of knowledge-sharing to nurture ethical and moral sensibilities.
