NSS Units of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36B, Chandigarh organised a 3-day long 'Pulse Polio Vaccination Program' in respect of 'National Polio Diwas' dated 19th to 20th January, 2020 aiming to eradicate Polio Virus from the society. A sum total of 30 Volunteers were supervised by Dr. Neha and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur - Incharges, Dispensaries - Sector 36 and 37; Mrs. Charanjit Kaur and Dr. Harpreet Kaur - NSS Officers of the college. The volunteers covered areas of Sector 36 and 37 by running Campaign and Door-to-door Vaccination Program. The events conducted are enlisted below-

Day 1 (19th January, 2020)
- Inaugural Ceremony- The Program inaugurated with the addressal speech of Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Principal, DSCE. In her speech, she appreciated the efforts of all for the noble cause and especially thanked the Doctors for their endeavor. This marked the beginning of the Vaccination Program.
- Campaigning- The Volunteers and supervisors campaigned around the streets of Sector 36 and 37 to generate awareness regarding need and importance of eradicating Polio Virus from the society, harms of the Virus, Preventions to be undertaken, etc.
The first day concluded with the end of the campaign with full determination to achieve the aims of the program.
Day 2 (20th January, 2020)
- Materials distributed- The Volunteers were divided into teams of 3 and 4 and each team was provided with - forms and relating stationary, Vaccination kit and equipments to pursue the aims of the cause.
Students were given prior training on proper handling of equipments and method of vaccinating children.
- Manual Vaccination- All volunteers and leaders held door-to-door vaccination of children under 5 years of age to mark them Polio-free.
- Filling of forms by Parents- The parents of vaccined children were made to fill the required form so as to keep the record of the activity.
Parents were also personally taught and awared about harms and preventions of Polio virus.
The day concluded with spreading mass awareness regarding the theme of the program and it ended on a good note.
Day 3 (21st January, 2020)
Vaccination Activity- It was carried on this day along with awaring parents and students about need of Vaccination against Polio Virus.
The event was concluded with warm thanksgiving by Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Principal, DSCE to the NSS Team and Mrs. Charanjit Kaur and Dr. Harpreet Kaur- NSS Officers of the college to make the drive a great success.
