20th CTEF Annual State Conference - 2020 and National Seminar on National Education Policy, 2019'

Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36B, Chandigarh in association with Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF), Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter organised the '20th CTEF Annual State Conference - 2020 and National Seminar on National Education Policy, 2019' in the college premises on 22nd February, 2020.

The event started with the recitation of college prayer, “Bhala Chahna”followed bypresenting a sapling, which is a symbol of growth and prosperity, to the dignified dignitaries by Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon. In her formal welcome address was given by Dr.(Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon in which she highlighted various achievements of the college. The inaugural session was marked by the presence of Dr. Parvinder Singh, C.O.E, P.U, Chandigarh, Dr. K.M. Bhandarkar, National President CTEF, Dr. Khushwinder Singh , President CTEF, Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter, Sh. S.P. Khanna Patron- CTEF (Pb. And Chd. Chapter) and Dr. (Mrs.) Satinder Dhillon, National Vice-President CTEF (North).

The seminar began with a speech by the Chief Guest, Dr. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Panjab University, Chandigarh on the need to strengthen skill development courses and replacement of knowledge based education by value based education. The seminar aimed at discussing and innovating steps towards rectifying the practical difficulties being faced in the Education System along with creating a new system that is aligned with the inspirational goals of 21st Century Education making the system more dynamic. Eminent Resource Persons Dr. Jasweer Chahal, Professor Kulwinder Singh, Professor Nandita Shukla, Professor Latika Sharma among others from Panjab University, Punjabi University and Fraser Valley, Chandigarh marked their benign presence in the seminar. Students and research scholars from various colleges joined the panel discussion sessions discussion with their proposed presentations regarding multiple themes of the conference such as Role and Status of Teachers, School Education, Technical Education, Medical Education, Ethical and Moral Education, Transforming Teacher Education, Multi-Disciplinary approach in Teacher Education, Challenges to Education, etc. as envisioned by NEP 2019.

Dr. K.M. Bhandarkar, National President, CTEF rendered a lecture in memory of Dr. D.R. Vij. He gave a presentation on the “Role and status of teacher as envisioned by NEP, 2019”. Moreover, he underscored the five pillars of education that are access, equity, quality, accountabilty and affordability. The inaugural session was followed by panel discussion and dialogue session . Dr. (Mrs.) Kirandeep Singh, Chairperson, Department of Education was the chief guest in the validictory session.The program was convened by Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Principal DSCE and co-ordinated by Dr. Richa Sharma, Dr. Neeru Malik, Dr. Rohit Bhandari - Professors from the college.Hundred delegates from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh participated in the event. The Conference was a huge success and left a long-lasting impression on the minds with revamping ideas of mutating the Education Structure. The event ended on good note.
