Dev Samaj College of Education,36-B, Chandigarh in collaboration with NGO, Yuvsatta initiated a project named, '49ables' for differently abled students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dhanas, Chandigarh. For the project, an offline event was conducted in the school premises on 23 rd October, 2021 with an aim to prepare and mentor the specially abled children to enhance their capabilities and make them smoothly adjust with the fast paced lives.
The event was organized by the GMSS School, facilitated the smooth functioning and introduction among students. Under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Principal DSCE, Dr. Richa Sharma and Mrs. Charanjit Kaur and 31 B.ed student teachers participated in the event. For the better coordination, teachers of the school made the student teacher aware about different abilities of the child in lieu of better guidance. The event included fun activities and amused interactions with games and celebration of the festival month. Thoughtful gifts and cards were distributed among the children. Dr. Richa Sharma highlighted the vision of the college i.e to shape, sensitize and inculcate in the prospective teachers a desire for excellence combined with right attitudes, values and ideologies. Mrs. Charanjit Kaur added the DSCE's mission, i.e. to train a qualitative renewable talent bank of dedicated, committed educators who are intellectually well developed, socially concerned, morally upright and spiritually oriented teacher citizen of India. The project thus formulated on the same grounds, with the focus of holistic development of specially abled children and welfare of the society. Yuvsatta Coordinator, Mr. Pramod Sharma, motivated the students by citing various examples of differently abled people, who has done wonders in life with good mentorship and guidance.
