International Ozone Day Celebration
TheScience Club, Environment Club and NSS Units of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector- 36-B, Chandigarh celebrated “International Ozone Day” on 16.09.2020 in virtual mode. To mark this day, an interactive talk was organzied by Dr. Kanwalpreet Kaur, Chairperson, IETVE, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The webinar began with a welcome note by Dr. Harpreet Kaur. She welcomed the resource person and participants and introduced them to the objectives of the webinar.
The welcome address was followed by the college prayer “Mubarak Hai Janam Unka” sung by the Music Department of the college. Then, Dr. Kanwalpreet Kaur began with her session on “Saving the Ozone Layer from Depletion” through PowerPoint presentationShe spoke at length about the causes of Ozone layer depletion and its adverse effects on our environment. She further briefed the students about CFCs, pesticides and other harmful chemicals that shouldnot be used for the preservation of Ozone layer. Pledge to save the Ozone layer from depletion was also taken by all the participants.
The Principal Dr. (Mrs) Agnese Dhillon, thanked the resource person for sharing a wonderful presentation with the students and faculty members and congratulated the organizersDr.Anita Nangiaand Dr. Seema Sareen, Incharge of Environment Club and Dr. Anuradha Agnihotri, Incharge Science Club for the success of the event. Heartfelt thanks were also given to the NSS officers, Mrs. Charanjit Kaur and Dr. Harpreet Kaur for their active contribution in bringing the event to fruition.
