To mark the essence of 7th International Yoga Day, Directorate of Sports, Panjab University, Chandigarhin collaboration with DevSamaj College of Education, 36-B, Chandigarh organized and celebrated the very day with great devotion and enthusiasm on 21st June 2021. To commemorate the day, Online Mass demonstration of Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) was conducted, with appropriate COVID follow up on various virtual platforms. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the event. He appreciated the efforts of DevSamaj College of Education and congratulated Dr. (Mrs.) AgneseDhillonPrincipal of the college for successful completion of the event.
The session was wonderfully organized during morning hours (6:30am onwards),PrashantGautam, Dr. Rakesh Malik, Dr. Neeru Malik and Yogacharya Raman Kumar kept it delightful for all the different age-groups joined from all over India and overseas. Yogacharya Raman Kumar with various pranayams and asanas, highlighted the importance of Yoga for healthier lifestyle and the pivotal role it plays in rejuvenating our mind and body. The significance of yoga was greatly endured during the session with year theme 'Yoga for wellness', a motto alignedwith deep connection of physical and mental relaxation alongwith developingstrength and resilience. The pleasantresponse for acceptance of yoga practiceamong people was quite striking, distressed pandemic time could be accounted for the same.
The concluding words were conveyed by the worthy Chief Guest, Prof. Raj Kumar, who apprised the need of Yoga practice to promote the holistic health of every individual. Organizers namely,PrashantGautamand Dr. Rakesh Malik, congratulated all the participants for the virtual social gathering and suggested toembrace Yoga for staying healthy and de-stressedin the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Neeru Malik extended the formal vote of thanks and appreciated the presence of various faculty members of the college, universities and all the participants. The eventwas conducted on ZOOM and Live streamed through Facebook, more than 500 people joined from a wide range of age group.
