NSS Units & Eye Donation Club of Dev Samaj College of Education, Chandigarh, hosted an insightful Eye Donation Awareness Program on 08.09.2023. Dr. Surinder Kumar Pandav, Professor and Head at PGIMER's Advanced Eye Centre, graced the event as the chief guest, while Dr. Parul Chawla Gupta, Associate Professor at PGI, was the guest speaker.
The objective of this program was to raise awareness about eye donation among our students. Dr. Pandav praised the college for its dedication to noble causes like eye and blood donation. He underscored the importance of spreading awareness about eye donation, starting from the grassroots, and emphasized the vital role teachers play in national development.
Dr. Parul presented global blindness statistics, clarified eye donation procedures and challenges, and dispelled common misconceptions. Additionally, various competitions, including poster making, slogan writing, and poetry recitation, were organized on the theme of eye donation, with certificates awarded to the winners.
Students from various courses participated enthusiastically, and the speakers addressed their queries.
Together, we strive to make a positive impact and create awareness about eye donation for a better tomorrow.
