NSS Units and Peace Club of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36-B Chandigarh in association with YUVSATTA (NGO) and State Legal Services Authorities, Chandigarh (UT) organized ‘Pink Turban Campaign’ on the occasion of National Legal Literacy (Services) Day on 9 th November 2022 in the college campus with an aim to create awareness about the importance of Legal literacy, especially among women. Some of students and teachers from Government Model Sr. Sec. School, Dhanas also attended the event and performed to highlight the offenses and crimes prevailing against girls and women. Students also performed a play on the theme Good and Bad touch.
As well as the college students Sonali recited a self-written Poem on the plight of women. The Chief Guest of the event was Sh. Surender Kumar, Additional District & Sessions Judge cum Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authorities, Chandigarh (UT) who graced the occasion with his presence. The chief guest highlighted the significance of the Legal Literacy (Services) Day and how it contributes in women empowerment and emphasized on the safeguards accorded to women for their safety. The chief guest listed some of the laws such as Child Marriage, Domestic Violence and Crime against children. After that everyone gathered in the college garden wearing pink turbans and formed a human chain to show their support and solidarity to stand against the crimes against the women.
