Pashu Jagat Celebrations
Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector-36 Chandigarh,celebrated the festival of ‘Pashu Jagat’ dedicated to its philosophy of cherishing and treasuring each life of both animate and inanimate in nature. Dr. (Mrs) Agnese Dhillon, Principal of the college was the Chief Patron of the event. Sh. Manoj Madan, Principal, Dev Samaj Modern School, Sukhdev Vihar,OKHLE, New Delhi, member, Dev Samaj Managing Council, was the esteemed resource person.
The festival began with the welcome address by Dr. Anuradha Agnihotri, Assistant Professor and the organizers of the event who welcomed Shriman Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Chairman, Dev Samaj College of Education, Secretary, Dev Samaj, Principal, faculty members and students. The welcome address was followed by a speech from Chairman Sir who also welcomed the resource person and gave his blessings. After the address the music department of the college sang the song ‘Pashu Jagat Se Hum HainAye’ which highlights the amalgamation and interdependence of both the human and animal kingdom.
Sh. Manoj Madan through his delicacy of expression pinpointed the urgency of the situation where animals are snatched away from their right to survive and how they are being exploited to satisfy the human greed. Utilitarianism governs the mind-set when it comes to the worth of an animal life. The vibrant and wholesome world of animals needs to be preserved. He accentuated on the point that it is the responsibility of each one of us to celebrate each life irrespective of its size and stature. Insightful anecdotes were shared among the students to reflect the beauty and wisdom of the animals. Students were made aware of the emotional aspect of the animal kind. Animals are highly empathetic and they have been the true companion of the human in this vast world of existence. Sh. Manoj Madan further manifested the idea of superficial food habits of eating another animal just for the satisfaction of the taste buds. He emphasized on the importance of animal rights and the provisions which must be introduced to safeguard them. He urged the students to realize and accept the significance of the other half which is the animal kingdom. The whole event left an impact and permeated the ideology of acceptance and respect for all the beings around us.
The harmonious outlook towards the animals was kindled into the minds of the students. It infused in the insight of the world being a system of whole, where each entity has its due importance assigned. Dr. (Mrs) Agnese Dhillon, Principal of the college, shared her insights on the importance of integrated living by celebrating the festival of ‘Pashu Jagat’. She adjured the students to lead a life of empathy and compassion. The Principal thanked the eminent resource person for devoting his auspicious time in sharing the philosophy of DevSamaj and congratulated Dr. Anuradha Agnihotri, Assistant Professor and Ms.Shivani Sharma, Assistant Professor, the organizers for the success of the event. Over 180 participants joined the webinar.
